About the Author
My name is Nick Kalogriopoulos, and I am a graduating senior at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. I am graduating with a double major in Genetics and Molecular Biology. I plan on pursuing a PhD in Cancer Biology and aspire to one day head my own cancer research team. In my spare time, I enjoy watching and playing sports, watching movies, playing guitar, and reading scientific articles.
I created this website in the spring of 2012 as a project for an undergraduate coures at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Genetics 677: Genomics, Proteomics, and Bioinformatics. Ahna Skop, PhD, teaches the course with the goal of students gaining a better understanding of the genomic, proteomic, and bioinformatic web-based tools currently available to us. The directions of the project were to choose and study a disease that has a genetic component to it. The implicated gene and protein was to be characterized and potential new ways to treat the disease were to be presented. The class website gives more information on the course and the project, as well as links to other projects by students in the class.
